Plan to create digital development ministry to be sent to Legislature 02/17/2021 10:28 PM Photo: Pixabay Taipei, Feb. 17 (CNA) A proposal for the establishment of a Ministry of Digital Development will be submitted to the Legislative Yuan during the current plenary session, a Cabinet official said Wednesday. According to the Executive Yuan s plan, the ministry will be tasked with supervising the information and communication technology industry as well as network infrastructure construction and management of information and communication security. The digital development ministry will incorporate the business of various government agencies, such as the National Communications Commission (NCC) and Department of Posts and Telecommunications under the Ministry of Transportation and Communication, the Industrial Development Bureau under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Department of Information Management under the National Development Council and the Cabinet ....

The resolution, which was proposed by the New Power Party (NPP), requires the interior ministry to evaluate whether it is necessary to change the emblem and to submit a report on the topic within two months to the Legislature s Internal Administration Committee. ....

A mortuary report released by the office on Thursday listed the case of a 73-year-old male, Huang Fan-yen, who was determined to have died in his car of a self-inflicted gunshot wound sustained at around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in the city of Irvine, south of Los Angeles. ....

CNA photo Jan. 29, 2021 Taipei, Jan. 29 (CNA) Taiwan s highest legislative body, the Legislative Yuan, on Friday approved this year s central government budget after a cut of about NT$25.6 billion (US$892.4 million), or 1.18 percent. Under the Cabinet s original budget proposal for the 2021 fiscal year, government spending was set at NT$2.1615 trillion, up NT$83.9 billion or roughly 4 percent from last year, while projected revenues fell NT$62 billion or 2.9 percent to NT$2.045 trillion. According to the newly approved budget, however, government spending is set at a lower sum of NT$2.1359 trillion, while projected revenues is about NT$2.0534 trillion. ....
