The people’s safety comes first. This was the marching order of Philippine National Police (PNP) Brig. Gen. Ysmael Yu as he assumed the post of Deputy Regional Director for Administration of Police Regional Office 4A which has jurisdiction over Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon provinces.

During a command visit to the Cavite Police Provincial Office at Camp BGen. Pantaleon Garcia, Imus City, Cavite on Tuesday, Yu said that as frontliners, members of the Cavite police are responsible for everyone’s safety.

There is a “reasonable basis” to believe that crimes against humanity were committed during Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, the office of the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) prosecutor said in a report on Monday.
Since taking office in 2016, Duterte launched a bloody anti-narcotics crackdown in which thousands have been killed, sparking global outrage.
Duterte has at times lashed out at what he said were international efforts to paint him as a “ruthless and heartless violator of human rights,” and unilaterally withdrew the Philippines from the ICC’s founding treaty in 2018. ....
