MP and Prestatyn GP determined to improve slow vaccine rollout in North Wales

AN MP and GP are calling for a significant ramping up of the vaccine rollout in North Wales. Dr James Davies, who is also a GP, and Dr Nitin Shori, partner at the surgery at Park House surgery in Prestatyn, have both aired concerns about the slow rate of vaccine administration compared to other parts of the UK. Dr Davies claims he has been “inundated” with messages from constituents who have not yet received an appointment, despite being within a top priority group for the Covid vaccine. Dr Shori said he too has been approached by patients who are keen to know when they will be vaccinated.

North Wales health board confident of meeting Covid vaccine targets as nearly 15,000 more doses arrive

More than 15,000 people have received their first Covid-19 vaccine, confirm BCUHB

MORE than 15,000 people have been given the Covid-19 vaccine in North Wales so far. Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) said at the end of last week, 15,852 people has been vaccinated. Last week saw a significant increase in the number of vaccinations - under BCUHB - being delivered and 9,654 people in the top priority groups received their first dose as part of the roll-out in North Wales. Teresa Owen, executive director of Public Health, said: We know initially there was some concern about the supply of vaccine to North Wales in the first few weeks of the programme, but we have always been clear that we will receive our proportion of the vaccine. We have now seen a significant increase in supply and that has been quickly reflected in the overall number of people who have had their vaccine in North Wales.
