17 Feb 2021 Former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will be joining YouTube Originals’ Black History Celebration, “Black Renaissance.” The Obamas and Abrams are set to appear in YouTube Originals’ Black History Month Celebration, entitled, “Black Renaissance: The Art and Soul of our Stories.” The show will also feature comedians Ziwe Fumudoh and Nicole Byerto, singers H.E.R., Anderson .Paak, and Kelly Rowland, football wide receiver Maurice Harris, and Bob the Drag Queen, among others. The YouTube special, called Black Renaissance, will also feature rapper Killer Mike, journalist Jemele Hill, Showtime hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, rapper Tobe Nwigwe, visual artist Shantell Martin and author Jason Reynolds, the video platform announced Thursday. In addition to showcasing Black artists and culture, the Feb. 26 special on the YouTube Originals Channel will focus on the next generation of Black voices who are reimagining our future, according to a news release.

January 28, 2021 YouTube Originals has announced Black Renaissance, a new special on Friday, February 26, that will feature President and Mrs. Obama, Jason Reynolds, Killer Mike, Desus Nice & The Kid Mero, Jemele Hill, artist Shantell Martin, and a performance by Tobe Nwigwe. The new special will be available on the YouTube Originals Channel and will showcase Black creators, artists, writers, storytellers, and history makers who have shaped our nation’s history; and the next generation of Black voices who are reimagining our future. The special will include dance, music, fashion, photography, literature, Afrofuturism, and the art of Black Women and LGBTQ+ artists.
