Moment. and every step of the way, new leaks. which is incredible when you hear this story. president obama announced in a white house address last night, that he authorized an operation to kill bin laden. at a compound in pakistan. that s where it happened. located about 40 miles outside of the capital city of islamabad. at my direction the united states launched a targeted operation against that compound in abbottabad, pakistan. a small team of americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability, no americans were harmed. they took care to avoid civilian casualties. after a firefight, they killed osama bin laden and took custody of his body. a u.s. official now says that in accordance with islamic law and tradition, bin laden s body has been buried at sea. in his speech, the president also reached out to families of the nearly 3,000 american who is ....
Statement. after all the good news is said and done, we have to remind ourselves that terrorism has evolved and morphed substantially. he is in some ways the founder of it. he was almost like a venture capitalist. the industry of modern terrorism has grown up. it s gotten bigger and broader. so a significant as his death is, it s more of a symbolic, iconic death of an individual. it is not in any way an end whatsoever to the strategic problem of terrorism. which again, has now spread in so many ways. it s quite possible in the short run there will be people out there who will want to make that point, they re going to want to send the message, you americans don t celebrate. so we have got to be careful and be on our guard, not just in the long run, because terrorism is a permanent part of life. but in the short run, there are going to be people who want to push back. do we know how engaged he was? presumably there s intelligence ....
