SIGNIFICANCE OF PROJECT: This project involved the complete renovation of an existing, two-story, concrete, tilt-panel office building (most recently used by Pioneer Pacific College) for the church’s teen and children’s ministry programs. Also, a new 14,600-square-foot addition was constructed to provide entry and chapel space. The chapel area is able to accommodate more than 700 people for worship services as well as basketball and volleyball events.
In addition to blending a new space with an existing one, the project team brought together three different structural systems. The entry flows into the open reception area and lobbies in the original building with a coffee counter in the hub between the new and existing structures. The lobby features two large overhead doors to allow flow into and out of the chapel as well as possible overflow.
