TUGUEGARAO CITY: A 20-year-old former high school student in the upland northern part of the Philippines graduated recently as valedictorian in Toronto, Canada. Chester Rhenz Obiar Lubrica, a former Rizal National School of Arts and Trades (RNSAT) student in Rizal, Kalinga, was the valedictorian of the Yorkdale Adult Learning Center and Secondary School in Toronto, Canada. He is the only child of his single mother, who used to work in Hong Kong and later migrated to Canada. Behind the trials that he went through, including moving to a place far from where he grew up and was used to, and the death of his father when he had just arrived in Canada, [Chester] graduated as the highest in his class in the school we moved to in Canada, his mother, Jean Cornesta Obiar, said in a social media post. Obiar said that she did not expect her son to graduate valedictorian as he was a newcomer in Canada.
