Many socio-cultural and human rights organisations across the country were left in deep mourning yesterday over the sudden passage of Mr. Yinka Odumakin, who until his death was the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere and one of the spokesmen of Southern and Middle Belt Leadership Forum (SMBLF).

According to a statement from the wife, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, the pioneer Publicity Secretary of Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) died of COVID-19 complications at the Intensive Care Unit, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) yesterday.

She said: “The sad event happened this morning (Saturday, 3/4/2021) at the intensive care unit of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) where he was being managed for respiratory issues due to complications from COVID-19 which he had recovered from about a week ago. Former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has commiserated with the Pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere and the Odumakin family over the demise of the spokesperson of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, who died on Saturday.
This is just as former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose also said the Afenifere Spokesman, Yinka Odumakin will be remembered for his fight against injustice.

Governor Ikpeazu Okezie has congratulated Abia State-born, US Navy, Commander Kelechi Ndukwe.
Ndukwe assumed duty as a Commander in the US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer, USS Halsey (DDG-97) on Saturday.
Writing on his Twitter page, Ikpeazu said he was proud of Ndukwe’s achievement.
He wrote, “I join millions of Nigerians worldwide in celebrating Abia-born Nigerian-American Commander Kelechi Ndukwe who today assumed command of a US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer, USS Halsey (DDG-97) becoming the first Abian, Nigerian & Nigerian-American to attain such a height in the history of US Navy

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Ayodele Fayose has expressed deep sadness over the loss of the Afenifere Spokesman, Mr Yinka Odumakin who was reported dead today after a brief illness.
Fayose said he is saddened at the loss of the vociferous spokesman of the Pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, who he described as having an undiluted love for the Yoruba race and Nigeria in general.
Yinka Odumakin’s death was announced earlier today by the leader of the Afenifere group, Pa Ayo Adebanjo.
Until his death, Yinka Odumakin was a member of NEDECO and fierce critic of the federal government of Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress, APC. ....
