More business operations are allowed as Santa Barbara County officially enters to least-restrictive ‘Yellow Tier’
SANTA BARBRA COUNTY, Calif. – More businesses across Santa Barbara County are allowed to increase capacity limits Wednesday, as the county moves into Yellow Tier of the State s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.
This is just days away from before California is scheduled to fully reopen.
Some of the business activities that now allowed under the Yellow Tier include:
• Restaurants: 50% capacity indoors; 200-person maximum is removed.
• Gyms and Fitness Centers: 50% capacity indoors; saunas and steam rooms can open.
• Wineries, Breweries and Distilleries: 50% capacity indoors or 200 people maximum.
On June 2, San Benito and Monterey counties moved into the Yellow Tier, following Santa Cruz County which had moved into the Yellow Tier the month before. The Yellow Tier, as described by the California Department of Public Health, is the state s least-restrictive tier under the COVID-19 reopening plan. Napa County is now in the yellow tier on the state’s coronavirus tier list. Alameda and Napa counties moved out of the orange tier after yesterday’s weekly health update. Now, the two counties will be allowed to expand indoor capacity for businesses like restaurants and gyms, and bars can reopen indoor service up to 25% capacity.
Meanwhile, California is less than a week away from getting rid of its color-coded tier system. When that happens, capacity and social distancing restrictions will be lifted. More than 99% of the state is currently in the least-restrictive Orange and Yellow tiers. This week, the CDC recognized California as one of two states with extremely low levels of community transmission. The other one was Vermont.
