We can never answer this question satisfactorily and definitively, until we learn to form a just estimate of the two sections of our country, which now appear on the verge of war. Rev. H. F. Edes, of this village (Barnstable), lectured before the Yarmouth Institute last week. Subject – Thoreau. The lecturer, says the Register, professed himself an admirer of the genius and character of this remarkable man, and gave an interesting account of his life and a good analysis of his character, as illustrated in his writings. ....
