THE sale of “lazy” assets was part of any business strategy and growers should not be alarmed, Fiji Sugar Corporation board chairman Vishnu Mohan said.
He made the comment in response to concerns raised by Western Division farmers about the recent FSC asset sale advertisements.
“The board, together with the management, is totally focused on making FSC financially stable and the industry increasingly more viable given the importance of sugar proceeds to Fiji’s GDP,” Mr Mohan said.
“This is even more so in a post-COVID-19 economic environment.
“Disposal of ‘lazy’ assets is part of any business strategy, let alone sugar and I stress, the growers need not be concerned at all.
