Prosecutor Peter Donnison told Cardiff Crown Court: “The police said he was smelling of intoxicants. The lamppost was destroyed by Hoffer. The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. On Sunday, May 30, the same car was found abandoned by police in Gelligaer, Caerphilly, after it had crashed into a lamppost.
