Titled Quetzalcoatl: Serpent à plumes, the sale comprises 39 pre-Hispanic artefacts that form a part of Mexico’s national heritage. Of the 39 items, Mexico is asking the auction house to return 30 artefacts and withhold 3 inauthentic objects. Mexico’s National Institute for Anthropology and History has asked auctioning house Christie’s to withdraw 33 objects from an upcoming auction in Paris. According to the institution, 30 of the objects are pre-Hispanic artefacts that form a part of Mexico’s national heritage.
