Muzi Manyike, the former SA Schools skipper who disappeared late last year, has been found dead.
His family confirmed that they had positively identified his body in Ga-Rankuwa on Monday following a near three-month search.
The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
The disappearance of
Muzilikazi Muzi Manyike, a former SA Schools captain, has ended in tragedy.
A statement on Tuesday confirmed that the 20-year-old s body had been positively identified by his family at the Ga-Rankuwa police station on Monday.
Sport24 has also corroborated Manyike s death through a relative as well as Kobus Porter, his agent.
According to the family, mortuary records show that the promising youngster - who was set to join the national sevens academy in January after being granted an early release from the Lions - was found on the R101 near Hammanskraal on 20 November, two days after he was last seen on CCTV footage in Pretoria North.
Lions star Marvin Orie will be leaving the Joburg pride for unknown pastures
JOHANNESBURG - Marvin Orie will no longer be a part of the Joburg pride.
The Lions revealed on Tuesday, via their Twitter account, that the 27-year-old lock had opted not to re-sign with the union.
The news will be a big blow to the Lions and coach Ivan van Rooyen. Orie was arguably one of the team s best players in the recently concluded domestic rugby season.
He was SuperRugby Unlocked s top defender, and his workrate around the field on defence and attack helped propelled the Lions to the semi-final of the Currie Cup, winning five of their six regular season games in that tournament in the process.

Marvin Orie has opted to leave the Lions after his contract with the Johannesburg franchise expired this month.
The Lions posted farewell messages to the 27-year-old, thanking him for his service since he joined them from the Bulls in 2017.
It s so far unclear where Orie s next destination is, however it s understood that he could be on the market for an overseas move.
The Cape Town-born forward started his youth rugby career at Western Province before moving to Pretoria and being part of the victorious 2013 Varsity Cup University of Pretoria Tuks team that also included Springboks Handre Pollard, Bongi Mbonambi and Courtnall Skosan.
The press release a few weeks ago announcing that there would be a Rainbow Cup sometime in April this year is good news . . . I think.
A bit like Brexit, you have to examine the detail in the contract before you are sure. Detail? Sorry, this is the PRO14, there are no details available.
Two weeks after the announcement, there has been no follow-up. Covid has been a major factor here, yet none of the PRO14 teams are any the wiser.
