Adam King clinched his second title in as many days after a stunning fightback from a set and break down to defeat arch-rival Xavier Peter-Gooding yesterday and win the Boys’ Under-16 singles trophy in the Milo Christmas Tennis Tournament.
Playing at the National Tennis Centre, pre-match favourite King, who is ranked one of Barbados’ best junior male players, was yet to lose a match for the tournament and looked destined for an agonising defeat.
But Peter-Gooding became edgy at key moments and King took full advantage of several unforced errors.
In an all St Michael School three-hour long affair, both players rallied long in a tense and gruelling decider before King sealed a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win on court No.1. (AGB)
