Postal workers eyeing 4% pay increase

Chunghwa Post employees are to receive a 4 percent pay raise next year, like other government workers, the company said yesterday.
The pay increase the largest in 25 years applies to all government workers and takes effect on Jan. 1, the Executive Yuan said on Oct. 28.
“Employees of Chunghwa Post a state-run corporation are ‘quasi-civil servants,’ so the pay raise applies as well to postal workers,” Chunghwa Post chairman Wu Hong-mo (吳宏謀) told a media luncheon.
The company spends about NT$33 billion (US$1.19 billion) per year on personnel, Chunghwa Post president Chiang Jui-tang (江瑞堂) told reporters, adding ....

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) The Cabinet announced Monday (April 19) the deputy head of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) will succeed the outgoing minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), 16 days after a deadly derailment in east Taiwan left 49 dead.
Wang Kwo-tsai (王國財), the deputy MOTC minister, will officially take over on Tuesday (April 20) when Lin s resignation takes effect.
During his term as a deputy MOTC minister since 2016, Wang acted as an interim minister for two months following the resignation of then-minister Wu Hong-mo (吳宏謀). This was in the wake of another deadly train accident in October 2018, after which Lin took up his post in January 2019. ....
