TV celebrities lay final brick at new £1.2m Secret World wildlife treatment centre to lay the final brick on a brand new £1.2m wildlife treatment centre. TV personalities Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games – both of whom are well-known for presenting nature shows including BBC’s Springwatch â visited the charity on Wednesday (May 12th) in East Huntspill to lend their support. The charity has been raising funds for the new treatment centre for a few years and in 2020 raised enough to start construction on the new building which, when completed, will help its staff provide care for the roughly 5,000 wildlife admissions it sees every year. ....

Secret World Wildlife Rescue is set to welcome two of its celebrity patrons today (May 12) to support its fundraising appeal for a new wildlife treatment centre. Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games, who are known for presenting wildlife and nature shows including Springwatch, will be on hand to lend their support to the appeal. Michaela said: A new wildlife treatment centre will completely transform Secret World and enable the charity to look after more animals in a more efficient, practical way. Ten stranded ducklings rescued by local wildlife carers and fire crew Wildlife carers from Burnham-On-Sea, helped by a fire crew, have rescued ten stranded ducklings. The baby birds were trapped in a disused railway water tower reservoir at Firepool in Taunton where they had hatched a couple of days earlier. A distressed member of the public called Secret World Wildlife Rescue, who sent a response diver when it became apparent the ducklings would not have been able to survive much longer. When he was unable to scoop the animals out of the water, Devon and Somerset Fire Service was called into action on Monday. ....
