HIA showcases its commitment to sustainability  29 Apr 2021 - 8:08 An aerial view of Hamad International Airport QNA Hamad International Airport (HIA), in its mission to preserve Qatar’s environment by decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing and recycling waste, managing noise, and controlling emissions to air and water; has implemented several sustainability initiatives since its inception. These initiatives have often been developed in collaboration with national stakeholders and contribute to the environmental development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Since 2014, HIA has demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability by pledging to improve carbon efficiency per traffic unit to 30% by 2030. The airport has since established a continual decrease in overall CO2 emissions and has been certified at Level 3 by the Airport Council International’s Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.

Screen capture from YouTube By Ko Dong-hwan In March 2013, a flash mob of thousands of students from elementary to high schools across South Korea performed PSY s Gangnam Style at Cheonggye Stream in downtown Seoul. Led by the World Wide Fund for Nature Korea, it was held to encourage people to participate in the WWF s global electricity- and energy-saving campaign called Earth Hour, by turning off their lights March 23 between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
