Oliver clocks up PBs aplenty at Caribeae swim meet

Oliver King was pretty happy with his performance at the Caribeae Swimming Club’s Capricorn 13 years and under short course carnival.
The 12 year old swam PBs in each of the events on his jam-packed program, scored several placings and pocketed some cash in several Speed Machine events.

King, who swims with Emu Park, was among the swimmers who hit the water at the 2nd World War Memorial Aquatic Centre on Saturday.
He has been swimming for about four years and said he enjoyed “pretty much everything” about the sport.
Caribeae president Neal Thomsen said it was a “cracking day”, with swimmers coming from 12 clubs across the region. ....

Feedback that had Rocky event organiser close to tears

Event co-ordinator Michelle Williamson was almost moved to tears by the response to the all-abilities aquathlon held as part of the Rockhampton Triathlon last year.
It was the first time it was included in the annual event, organised by the Fitzroy Frogs Triathlon Club, and it attracted about 25 competitors in late October.
Williamson is expecting that number to double when the triathlon, which also features women’s and junior categories, returns on February 28.

Swimmers set to hit the accelerator in Skins

THE speed will be on when swimmers take on the Skins events at the Tropic of Capricorn meet in Rockhampton on Saturday.
A field of 158 competitors will hit the water at the 2nd World War Memorial Aquatic Centre.
The annual event is co-hosted by the CQ Aquajets and Emu Park clubs.
Meet director Gary Knight said due to COVID restrictions, no medals or individual awards would be offered but a team trophy would be presented to the club that finished with the highest aggregate points across all events.
Rocky City’s Amelie Smith will be among the 158 swimmers in action at the Tropic of Capricorn meet on Saturday. ....
