Couple to appear in court today

A couple from the World Harvest Ministries International church, where there was a coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, will appear in the St Matthias Magistrates’ Court today.
Fabian John and Vanessa Maylin John of Kingsland Heights, Christ Church are charged with refusing to carry out a lawful order imposed by the Chief Medical Officer on April 26.
Police said they were at the centre of a five-hour stand-off with health officials, the Barbados Defence Force and lawmen before they were placed in quarantine at the St Lucy District Hospital.
“Their Speightstown, St Peter church has been connected to one of the northern COVID-19 clusters and at last count linked to 28 cases,” according to a statement from police. ....

The COVID-19 cluster involving security guards at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) has increased by another four positive cases, bringing the latest number to 14, Chief Operations Officer (COO) Louise Bobb has disclosed.
Bobb said today that the additional cases came to light after a series of test results on April 20 and April 22 revealed that four of the 85 security employees who were placed in quarantine on April 18 were confirmed positive for the virus.
The origin of these cases goes back to Friday, April 16 when contact tracing linked an infectious security guard to the COVID-19 cluster from the World Harvest Ministries International church in St Peter. ....

Police, army, health officials in five-hour family drama

Declaring a fear that she might not get “a fair test” for coronavirus, a member of World Harvest Ministries International, the St Peter church at the centre of the latest COVID-19 outbreak, was this evening involved in a standoff with public health and law enforcement officials.
But, around 9:30 p.m. five hours after health authorities arrived on the scene at her Christ Church home, police officers removed the woman and other family members.
It was not immediately clear if or where the woman and her family were taken into quarantine as officials were tight-lipped as the drama ended.
Moments earlier, the woman who lives with her husband, son and mentally challenged mother, telephoned ....
