A day after they were rescued from the tunnel where they had been trapped for 17 days, 41 construction workers have been airlifted in an Indian Air Force Chinook and are being taken to AIIMS in Rishikesh.
In the second such setback in two days, drilling at the Uttarakhand tunnel where 41 labourers are trapped had to be stopped on Friday evening after the auger machine encountered a metallic object.
The Uttarakhand government has assured to cover all travel, food, and accommodation costs for the families of 41 workers stuck in the Silkyara tunnel for over a week. Dhami assured swift rescue efforts and instructed officials to support the families, ensuring their comfort and regular updates.
Today, a major breakthrough was achieved when National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) completed the drilling of another 6-inch diameter pipeline for the supply of food, medicines, and other essential items.
