Thank you supervisors, i am with the California Academy of sciences over in district one. More importantly i am an advocate for people with disabilities and have been for a long time and recently joined the council and they have been partners to us as well and it is important for the people to think about, this is not charity, this is, you know, this is a good human thing and this is the only Minority Group that you can join at any given time and it is pretty mind glowing to think of it that way and i am proud to say that the academy of sciences supports this effort and we have already incorporated it into the normal and every day hiring practices. And we have just in the last year we have hired four employees with disabilities in partnership with the arc of San Francisco. And in the fall we will begin a partnership with access sfusb and bring on two new interns with disabilities. Have approvals for the World Health Organization and one of the things that they are interested in is what we are going to do with the disabled because they say that nobody else has done that and has included that in their making the city disable friendly. And i hope that we will bring back in of the zeal that we had, in the beginning. We are looking at things like jobs and housing, and transportation for both seniors and people with disability. Hello my name is regina berkner and for the last 20 years i have been involved in the business of this hearing, which is making sure that disabled people have an opportunity to gain their education and to apply their education to a functional lifetime job that may allow them to survive in the workforce. And in life. I am here primarily to introduce my niece, over there, and she just graduated from San Francisco state with a bachelors degree in marine science. And environmental concerns. And she has been a volunteer at the academy of sciences for over 21 years. Her activities at the academy of sciences came about through an act of discrimination, she tried to sign up for a Junior Academy course. And was told by the then, person, who is in charge, that they could not have people with disabilities, because they did not know how to teach them or how to get along with them. Or anything else. So, i contacted the board at the academy, and voiced
