AUSTIN With Texas Republican leaders showing no sign they will bow to criticism from some of the state s most powerful corporations to back away from legislation that would limit voting options, progressives are taking their opposition to the airwaves.
The voter advocacy group MOVE Texas on Friday launched a $200,000 buy that will run in the Austin, Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth markets saying the measures would spark a backlash that could hurt the Texas economy. They know that if the state is open to voter suppression, it s closed to business, the narrator in the Don t Mess With Texas Voters ad says in reference to opposition voiced by such corporations as Microsoft, Dell and American Airlines to two bills progressing in the Legislature.
Texas Democrats have railed against these GOP so-called election reform bills, deemed an emergency item this legislative session by Governor Greg Abbott, as a solution in search of a voting fraud problem.

AUSTIN, Texas (CN) With Texas Republican state lawmakers using their majority to push through “election integrity” bills, Democrats sought clarity Thursday on how the legislation would impose criminal penalties on election judges for obstructing poll watchers and what type of assistance for disabled voters would be considered felony offenses.
