With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing Katrinette and her bandmates from the well-loved, all-female garage rock trio The Ape-ettes to go on hiatus, she took the opportunity to begin work on a solo release, using material she had written over a 13-year period. The resulting record, produced by Jonathan Danyliw and featuring a group of talented guest musicians, was released on vinyl and digital platforms on July 1, to warm reception from fans and fellow musicians both in and elsewhere.

Julie Katrinette will preview her new solo album, “Let’s Not Complicate Things (With Our Minds)”, on CKLU 96.7 FM, Sunday at 7 p.m. The broadcast will also stream on cklu.ca and the free Radioplayer Canada app.
Launching officially on vinyl and digital platforms on July 1, the album marks the first solo release for Katrinette, best known for her work with the beloved all-female garage rock trio The Ape-ettes.
