Retired Cliviger teacher writes children s mental health book

A RETIRED teacher has written a book to educate children in a fun way to talk about mental health. Diane Hull, a 61-year-old retired nursery and early years teacher and author, has been living in Cliviger for the past 18 months. Originally from Todmorden, Mrs Hull was at university when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease aged 46. She did not let it stop her and left with a first-class honours degree. After 10 years, exhaustion caused her to retire from Shade Primary School in Todmorden. She said: “The picture books are great to get the children to talk about feelings and understand mental health, so that we can help them if they need it.

Crowvus launched three novels over the year including one picture book, one non-fiction, one collection of short stories and two free eBooks. Judith Crow, one of the Crowvus partners, said: “It has been a difficult year for everyone, with coronavirus and lockdown, and we feel really lucky to have been able to keep developing Crowvus during such a time. If lockdown has shown us one thing, it’s that we need to think of ways to keep good mental health. Reading and creating are two things which bolster our mental wellbeing so Crowvus really came into its own this year as we could provide that.”
