This Friday, the
Courier-Tribune in Asheboro won four journalism awards in the North Carolina Press Association s Annual Convention. Winners Ray Criscoe and Larry Penkava have received awards from the association in the past, but this is the first time Criscoe has won for a piece in the Business Writing section and Penkava has won an award in the Religion & Faith Reporting category.
Both Penkava and Criscoe are long-time journalists and Randolph County natives. Larry Penkava worked at the
Courier-Tribune for about 5 years, and before that, he worked for the
Randolph Guide for over 16 years. Penkava says he knows Randolph County like the back of my hand. ....
