The los angeles area after a surveillance operation yesterday. and fbi forensics experts were the main defense witnesses in the casey anthony trial. there are also some new indications that the closely watched case could be close to wrapping up. t.j. winick reports. reporter: score one for the defense. when an expert witness testifies casey anthony s car did not test positive for human decomposition. i could not conclusively determine that those the presence of those compounds indicated that there had been human remains in the trunk of the car. reporter: quite a 180 from earlier descriptions of the car reeking of death. anthony is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter caylee with chloroform. but then the prosecution punched a hole in the testimony of another defense witness who found no trace of knockout drugs in a sample of caylee s hair. even had it been positive, i wouldn t be able to say when or how often the person was exposed. reporter: those following the tria ....

Keep his mistress in hiding. police and national guard troops have been going door to door, searching for survivors of deadly tornadoes that hammered massachusetts. at least three people were killed and as many as 200 injured in the springfield area. t.j. winick reports. reporter: it was as devastating as it was surprising. a ferocious tornado outbreak, the kind of which hasn t been seen in western massachusetts in decades. the storms are blamed for at three deaths. i was in there with my cat and my dog in the tub. just waiting and praying it would just go by and not take me with it. reporter: in the city of springfield, a monster funnel cloud literally went right down main street. sucking up water from the connecticut river, sending debris hundreds of feet skyward. altogether, seven possible tornadoes were reported across the bay state. i never would believe that a tornado would be here. because of the, you know the climate here is much colder. reporter: the town of monson ....

Small town, as the storm system moves east as t.j. winick reports, the rough weather overnight added to the misery in joplin, missouri. reporter: an ominous sight in the skies in oklahoma where at least three twisters have been spotted. tornado watches and warnings in effect in several states. everything is gone. it is all gone. everything. you try to think. i remember last night laying in bed, i keep thinking about that. and now and now you visualize where you are. now it is all gone. reporter: the city of joplin was decimated by a massive tornado sunday, that has been upgraded from an ef-4 to an ef-5, with winds over 200 miles per hour. at least 122 people were killed making it the deadliest twister in the u.s. in nearly 60 years. two more survivors were pulled from the debris in the last 24 hours. the search continues for some 1,500 residents still missing. rescue teams are canvassing neighborhoods. a family looks for a 12-year-old boy. his parents are in the hospital. las ....
