Demand for small turkeys has kept Raul Granucci’s phone ringing off the hook. But the butcher and manager of Windsor Quality Meats in Vancouver, B.C., has to tell them they’re out of luck large birds are all that’s left in the cooler now.
“It’s a bit ironic. Most years, people want to have a bunch of leftovers, they’re thinking people are going to show up for dinner unexpected,” he said.
“They say, ‘Hey, it’s just four of us in the house. We want a 15- to 18-pound turkey,’ and we let them know, that’ll do it but that’s a bit excessive . this year, it’s still just four people at dinner, but they’re being mindful that they only need the smaller bird. The 10- to 12-pounders.” ....
