WINDSOR LOCKS, CT For today s look back into Windsor Locks history, we open up the 1980 edition of the high school yearbook, The Herald. On page 207, we find an advertisement for Midtown Garage, located in the triangle at 6 North Main St.
Being from out of town, I know nothing about this business, other than observing the large sign indicating it was a Mercury-Lincoln dealership. Hopefully our readers can provide some more insight.
The property was recently taken over as home to Vinnie s Little Acre, a farm stand owned and operated by Vincenzo Cianfarani Jr. He has returned to town, where he initially opened in the Windsor Locks Commons in 2005 before moving to Bassdale Plaza in East Windsor three years ago.

A beloved restaurant which operated for nearly a quarter century near Bradley International Airport. (Windsor Locks Historical Society)
WINDSOR LOCKS, CT Today s installment of this pictorial history series takes us back into the not-so-distant past, to a popular restaurant which operated for nearly a quarter century near Bradley International Airport, with a name drawn from the traveling experience.
The Passport Restaurant was opened in Oct. 1974 by Frank and Sonia Sutula, owners of Suffield Caterers. Like the catering business, Sonia and the couple s daughters operated the restaurant, as Frank was chief of the Suffield Police Department at the time. Upon his retirement in 1980, he became a permanent fixture at 584 North Street.

OK, we didn t even have a nation yet. The origin dates back to 1777 and the surrender of the British army during the American Revolution, shortly after the loss at Saratoga in the fall. As legend has it (along with the Windsor Locks Historical Society), a group of Hessian soldiers, now POWs, were making their way to a camp near Boston.
