Umpqua Reduces Fire Closures

The Umpqua National Forest has reduced the Emergency Fire Closure for the Windigo fire. The portion of the Pacific Crest Trail within the Umpqua National Forest and the Kelsay Valley Horse Camp have been reopened. Other trails in the area, as well as the Mt. Thielsen Wilderness, are now open as well. The new Forest Closure order and map can be found at: Umpqua National Forest - Alerts & Notices (usda.gov) A multi-forest closure order previously in place to protect firefighters and for public safety during suppression efforts associated with the Windigo, Potter, and Big Swamp Fires has been reduced. The threat to firefighters and the public has diminished significantly allowing Forest managers to reduce the size of the Closure.
