Residents Turn Out to Voice Opposition Parking Meters

Several residents showed up Saturday at the William G. Reinstein Bandstand for a protest against the DCR’s parking meter program on Revere Beach Boulevard that will begin on May 1.
Wayne Rose, one of the leaders of the group, said, “We would like to effectively get all the meters off of Revere Beach. Two hundred spaces (for residents) wasn’t enough. We have no parking for residents of Beachmont, which isn’t right. I’ve driven to every beach all along this coast and no other beach has a meter on it. It’s just not right.”

Beach Parking Protest Rescheduled for Saturday

The protest of the DCR’s Revere Beach parking meter program scheduled for last Saturday at the William G. Reinstein Bandstand on Revere Beach was postponed due to the inclement weather.
Organizers have rescheduled the protest for this Saturday (April 24) at 10 a.m. at the Bandstand.
Mayor Brian Arrigo and DCR Commissioner Jim Montgomery announced an agreement that no meters will be installed on the west side (residential side) of Revere Beach Boulevard from Revere Street to Carey Circle and nearly 200, 24/7 resident-only parking spaces will be created.
Leaders of the group organizing the protest want a measure that would allow Revere residents to park their vehicles free of charge at meters along the entire length of Revere Beach Boulevard. They are also requesting a meeting with DCR officials. ....

'Who I Wear a Mask for Revere" Harkins Unveils Banner at Reinstein Bandstand – Revere Journal

Revere resident Brian Harkins unveiled his large “Who I Wear A Mask For Revere” banner on March 3 at the William Reinstein Bandstand on Revere Beach. Harkins, recognized as the artist “Nyx Breen,” said the banner was part of “an interactive art-centric piece that allowed people to express who they wear a mask for.”
Harkins said at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was much “divisiveness” over the issue of wearing masks.
