On April 5, 2021, Chief Circuit Judge William A. Mudge was unanimously elected by his fellow Circuit Judges as Chief Judge of the Third Judicial Circuit for another two year term. He was first elected Chief Judge in 2019 and his new term will begin June 7, 2021. Madison and Bond counties comprise the Third Judicial Circuit.
Judge Mudge was in private practice in Edwardsville for 16 years before serving 8 years as Madison County State’s Attorney from 2002 to 2010; was first elected Circuit Judge in 2010 and retained in 2016. Mudge tells The Big Z he still gets excited about the job.
