Jordan, who plays the role of Adonis “Creed” Johnson, son of fallen boxing champion Apollo Creed, said the time was right for him to take up the role of director for a film so personal to him.
“Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right,” Michael B Jordan said in a statement quoted by Variety.

After weeks of rumors, it s finally been confirmed that Michael B. Jordan will make his directorial debut with Creed III for MGM Studios.
The 34-year-old actor will also reprise his role as Adonis Creed in front of the camera, while closing his deal behind the camera, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The studio also set a November 23, 2022 release date, which is currently only occupied by an untitled Disney Animation project over Thanksgiving weekend.
