Ron Gombeda, executive director of the Guernsey County Community Development Corporation (CDC), recently announced that the Great Guernsey Trail has officially been designated as a National Recreation Trail (NRT). This prestigious recognition is bestowed annually upon trails by the Secretary of the Interior and recognized every two years at the National Trails Symposium.
“The NRT designation ensures that the Great Guernsey Trail will be a part of the national database of NRT trails which will provide increased visibility for our trail. In Ohio, there are only 24 trails that have received NRT designation. This is a testament to the prestige of the NRT and the beauty and upkeep of our beloved trail. This designation was made possible thanks to the dedicated ownership and maintenance of trail by the Guernsey County Community Development Corp. (CDC), Gombeda said.
