(WBRC) - The Tuscaloosa County Commission made a decision that could help spur the county’s economy and also support transportation on a road that is about to experience a lot more traffic. Commissioners voted to pay $64,000 for engineering work on Will Walker Road. This will support a sequencing facility Mercedes Benz will use in the construction of electric cars that will be built at the plant. The project will reconfigure about a thousand feet of road near M-Class boulevard. Soon a lot more traffic will be going back and forth from there.

Mercedes-Benz U.S. International (MBUSI) will get some additional help on the infrastructure front as part of its latest expansion, with the Tuscaloosa County Commission working to shore up funding for road improvements on Will Walker Road near M-Class Boulevard. Tuscaloosa County Planning Director Farrington Snipes presented three separate resolutions pertaining to the project to the Commission during its regular meeting Tuesday. These dealt with submitting a formal funding request to the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), setting aside county funds to expedite the construction process and securing an engineering firm for design services.
