The tagline for the latest all-star season of the hit show “Naked and Afraid,” airing now on Discovery, is “You would have been safer at home.” Those words fit perfectly with Lake Gaston’s Wes Harper, who is starring on the survivalist series for a third time, after a year in which he was forced to do what so many other lake residents can relate to: work remotely.
Harper owns and operates LightWire, a Triangle-based software company that went fully remote due to COVID-19. The 51-year-old Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. native and wife Molly, who is getting her feet wet professionally with Roanoke Rapids-based Heaton Real Estate, split time during the year between their Cary home and Wildwood Point hideaway. Harper stays at the lake about every other week- you know, when he’s not surviving the elements of a foreign locale in bare-naked fashion as a global TV audience looks on.
