Campaigners who want to stop the £153m Western Link have accused County Hall of dismissing reports about the road s impact on a super colony of barbastelle bats.
The Stop The Wensum Link campaign has sent a letter of complaint to Tom McCabe, Norfolk County Council s head of paid service, ahead of a key decision over the future of the mooted road on the edge of Norwich.

Norfolk County Council Greens pledge to fight Western Link

Stopping the controversial Norwich Western Link will be their priority at County Hall, say newly-elected Green county councillors.
Jamie Osborn took Mancroft, Ben Price won in Thorpe Hamlet and Paul Neale triumphed in Nelson.
And Mr Osborn said their number one priority was to put pressure on the council to scrap the mooted £153m Western Link road.

When the Norwich Northern Distributor Road was originally mooted, almost 20 years ago, council bosses wanted it to link to the A47 to the west of Norwich.
But that idea was dropped due to the cost of crossing the Wensum Valley, a site of special scientific interest, with Natural England and the Environment Agency raising concerns.
So the NDR currently stops at the A1067 Fakenham Road.
But the council always made clear it could revive that so-called missing link to the A47 and, in 2016, it was made one of the Conservative-controlled council s priorities. ....
