Workington Town name Jamie Doran as new skipper

Jamie Doran is set to lead from the front this season - as skipper of Workington Town.
The half-back, who has just signed a new deal to keep him at Derwent Park until the end of 2024, will wear the captain’s armband for the new League 1 season.
And he will be assisted by Dec O’Donnell and Stevie Scholey, who were named as vice captains by head coach Chris Thorman.
“I was over the moon,” said Doran on his appointment. “Chris pulled me to one side and said that he had seen a massive improvement in my attitude and willingness to train on my days off. ....

IAIN Thornley reckons Leigh have landed the perfect fixture to mark their return to Betfred Super League action next month.
And the experienced centre believes a non-playing member of John Duffy’s squad holds the key to upsetting 2020 Grand Final runners-up Wigan at the Emerald Headingley Stadium on Friday, March 26.
Thornley is one of a plethora of ex Warriors players looking to bring down their former club next month.
Lewis Tierney, Joe Mellor, Matty Russell, Tom Spencer and Craig Mullen came through the Wigan Academy system while Ben Flower only cut his DW Stadium links last year. ....
