The half-back, who has just signed a new deal to keep him at Derwent Park until the end of 2024, will wear the captain’s armband for the new League 1 season. And he will be assisted by Dec O’Donnell and Stevie Scholey, who were named as vice captains by head coach Chris Thorman. “I was over the moon,” said Doran on his appointment. “Chris pulled me to one side and said that he had seen a massive improvement in my attitude and willingness to train on my days off. ....

And the experienced centre believes a non-playing member of John Duffy’s squad holds the key to upsetting 2020 Grand Final runners-up Wigan at the Emerald Headingley Stadium on Friday, March 26. Thornley is one of a plethora of ex Warriors players looking to bring down their former club next month.
