The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) last week approved final registration certificates for six investment projects worth over $58 million that are expected to generate 8,535 new jobs.
Cathaya (Cambodia) Co Ltd’s $2.8 million textile factory located in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone – in Pou Thoeung village, Bit Traing commune, Prey Nop district, Preah Sihanouk province – is anticipated to bring 170 new jobs, the CDC said in a statement posted via social media on July 23.

Four private companies – Hong Cen Max Leather Products Co., Ltd., Remstex Fashion Co., Ltd., Top Form (Cambodia) Manufacturing Company Limited, and New Wide Apparel Co., Ltd. – have just received green light from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) for their investment projects.
According to a CDC’s press release issued yesterday, the companies will invest US$2.6 million, US$6 million, US$9.5 million and US$33 million, respectively for the creation of bag, belt, garment and facemask factories.
The four newly-approved projects, to be located in Kandal and Takeo provinces, are expected to create more than 8,000 jobs for the locals, it added.
