An arraignment date has been set on weapons charges for a Coralville woman accused of helping an Iowa City murder suspect escape capture.
31-year-old Whitney Claybon appeared in Johnson County court on Wednesday. That’s when Judge Carl Baker set an arraignment date of March 12
th on a charge of Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Domestic Abuse Offender, a Class D Felony punishable by up to five years in prison, if convicted.
Officers executed a search warrant on Claybon’s Boston Way apartment in January. They say they found five rounds of .22 caliber LR ammunition in her purse. ....

Court appearance Monday for alleged accessory in IC murder case

An alleged accessory in an Iowa City murder case go before the court on Monday.
31-year-old Whitney Claybon of Cross Park Avenue has a case management conference set for 9am Monday at the Johnson County Courthouse. Claybon is accused of telling investigators that she had driven one of the suspects to Chicago to help him escape the area. Investigators later learned she had actually driven him to Minnesota. Claybon is charged with Accessory After the Fact and Obstructing Prosecution. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of four years in prison.
Reginald Little of Cross Park Avenue, 22-year old Durojaiye Rosa of Broadway Street and 32-year old Patrick Bland of Rockford, Illinois are accused of killing Kejuan Winters in his Broadway Street apartment on April 20 ....

A Coralville woman who’s facing charges involved with the April murder of an Iowa City man in his Broadway Street residence last April now faces weapons charges.
Officers executed a search warrant on 31-year-old Whitney Claybon’s Boston Way apartment on Wednesday afternoon, and say they found five rounds of .22 caliber LR ammunition in her purse.
Claybon was convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2017 and is not allowed to possess firearms or ammunition, and under Miranda allegedly admitted knowing the ammo was in her purse.
She’s been charged with Dominion or Control of Firearms by a Domestic Abuse Offender, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted. ....
