Walk across the M25 to a different century and King James s palace The other day we wanted to go for a walk somewhere a bit more countryfied that our neck of the woods, but didn t want to travel too far. I love the area around the Forty Hall. So, I took a look at the OS map and made the bold choice of a walk from Whitewebbs Lane across the M25. I was pleasantly surprised. We started the walk by parking the car in the lay-by/car park outside the entrance to the Whitewebbs gold course and Toby pub (Yes, ex-communicate me, we drove there). From there it s a short walk back in the direction of the A10 to reach the footpath to Cheshunt, next to the driveway for a stables. At the moment the entrance is getting a little overgrown and could easily be missed if you re not a little watchful. ....
Notices placed by Enfield Council in this week’s edition of the Enfield Independent outline works that will lead to likely disruption from next week. Maldon Road, between its junctions with Victoria Road and West Close, is due to be shut to traffic for two weeks as and when directed by road signs from Monday due to crane works. Vehicles will be unable to use Trinity Avenue, between its junctions with First Avenue and Melbourne Way, from 8am until 6pm on Monday because of road improvement works. An expected four-night closure is due to come into place in Clay Hill, between Theobald’s Park and Browning Road, from Tuesday from 8pm until 5am. ....

A notice in this week’s edition of the Enfield Independent from the London Borough of Haringey states it is applying to the Government to seek confirmation for a compulsory purchase order for the Tangmere House and Northolt blocks. If the order is confirmed, it will clear the way for the blocks to be demolished and for new housing to be built in its place to “overall facilitate the improvement of that part of the Broadwater Farm Estate”. Tangmere, a six-storey block, and 18-storey Northolt were evacuated in 2018 following tests conducted in the wake of the Grenfell Tower disaster that found they were at risk of collapsing. ....
