In Northumberland, castles add a touch of drama to coastal views

The nation’s landscapes have inspired poets, authors and the general population for hundreds of years. While we have needed the outdoors this year more than ever, with lockdowns, tier systems and a seemingly constant changing of the rules, many of us have spent less time outdoors as the nights have drawn in.
But for a small, overcrowded country we have some remarkably dark and sparkly places and, with two new dark sky reserves announced earlier this week, there has never been a better time to get out and discover our skies – both day and night.
