We spoke to a pulmonary expert about what the smoke could mean for our health. Joining us to talk about the Health Impacts is dr. Michelle johnson. Dr. Johnson, lets talk about what people should not do with another day of this bad air. So people should try to limit the amount of exposure to the bad air. Some of the things they should not be doing is not be outside if they dont have to and they should be especially careful to take care of people who have high risk for lung disease and make sure they are not outside if at all possible as well. West appears to be evaporating, basically we knock the clouds out, shortly after sunrise yesterday weve stayed generally clear overnight and today looks mostly sunny, were starting out kind of cold. 24 degrees in philadelphia. 22 in wilmington, currently. 18 in trenton. 19 in allentown. 21 in reading. 18 in millville. 31 in cape may. Not going to bother you with windchills. Theres a little bit of winds out there, but not enough to make it feel as uncomfortable as yesterday. Overall today looks like a day of improvementment well see sunshine like improvement, well see sunshine, like yesterday, but less wind. Well get up to 44 degrees, notice how you head out on friday evening, yeah, its coat weather, but with clear skies and light winds not as bad as its been. We have icejam related flooding up bushkill false falls four miles of ice forcing water on the main waterway and backing water up in other tributaries like the lehigh river. Accu weather. Matt pellman is following whats happening. For now were checking in with the schuykill expressway where things are not so good on the eastbound side here in grays ferry. Its an overnight motorcycle crash thats causing the eastbound closure and were hearing that this closure can be with us for a little while this morning. You can see the police on the scene investigating the motorcycle crash. Theyre out here cleaning up and it sounds like this is going to be blocked for a little while. For now all eastbound traffic is being forced off at grays ferry and university avenue. There is a little bit of a back log as you come east of south street into this point. Where again all traffic is forced off into University City. Its kind of a mess. You want to stay away if you can. Vine street expressway and 95 are going to be the way to get around it. Speaking of which, here is the vine street expressway. Its nice and open and clear. No overnight construction here tonight. Youre good t
Continues to be forced off at grays ferry avenue and University Avenue and you can see the backlog here thats resulting as people wait to get off of the eastbound side of the schuykill and then detour through university city. You start to jam approaching south street and youre just not moving up to that point where youre forced off. So you really, really want to get off of the schuykill expressway by the time you get to the vine street expressway. Head eastbound and either get on to broad street sbd if youre in the mood for traffic lights or go over to 95 sbd to get around it. This chunk of the schuykill is not where you want to be this morning. At least the westbound work on the schuykill is here but now theres a new situation right here on the ramp from the westbound side of 76 to the eastbound side of the vine. Its facing side ways on the ramp. Penn dot is out there but this ramp is blocked temporarily as they try to clear this accident. This ramp is the schuykill westbound to go ea
Early this morning to catch an early flight down at Philadelphia International airport. Your best bet this morning, if you are coming from the suburbs, and headed to the airport, you can of course use the blue route, 476, or jump off here at the vine street expressway and take that cross town to 95 south and 95 south will get you down and around in toward the bridges, down toward the airport. Thats going to be the way to go. Again, early in the morning, before sunrise, you dont want to get pushed off into University City detour, not always the best belt for folks who arent sure where theyre going. Again, it is eastbound on the schuylkill expressway, all lanes closed. Theyre pushing everybody offer at university because the accident just east of the university ave. Then we also have the overnight construction on the schuylkill. Thats going the opposite way. Closed until 5 00. I just got word, though, they have one lane open, so at least on the westbound side there is one lane, but again
