Oasis taskforce seeks meeting with landlord and operator over leisure centre's future

THE leaseholders and operators of the Oasis Leisure Centre will be asked to speak to a committee of senior councillors in a bid to get the iconic venue reopened.
Seven Capital, given a long-term lease for the centre by Swindon Borough Council, and GLL, the specialist company which ran it for them, decided to close the doors for good in November. The latter said the centre, which opened in 1976, was no longer viable.
Members of the Oasis advisory group - convened by Conservative council leader David Renard - agreed to his Labour counterpart Jim Grant’s suggestion to invite both companies to a future meeting. ....
