The messaging platform’s 2021 update states that WhatsApp will be sharing user data with Facebook in order to optimise recommendations for their users. The CCI contends that WhatsApp is using its dominant position in the market to force users to share information with its parent company.
India’s competition watchdog believes that ‘excessive’ data collection is getting in the way of creating a healthy competitive environment.

Delhi HC: SEBI, CCI to decide on Amazon's objections to Future Retail-Reliance Group deal

Admitting Future Retail s plea as maintainable, a single-judge bench of Justice Mukta Gupta held that the order of the Emergency arbitrator in Singapore was valid in the context of the written agreement between Future Retail and Amazon.
The court ruled that Future Retail has been able to make out prima facie case of tortious interference by Amazon , observing that Amazon s attempt to control Future Retail without government s approval is violative of FEMA and FDI rules. This is a prima facie finding of the court as the case remains open for further consideration, and any final order will depend upon the evidence submitted by all parties to the case. ....
