Marton expat Dan Southall and his 1969 Chevrolet Camaro will be in action at this weekend s Whanganui Street Drags - and they re bound to be one of the stars of the show.
The car is
listed as the fastest street legal small block V8 in New Zealand by NZV8 Magazine.
Currently based in Christchurch, Southall has owned the Camaro for 15 years.
To start with it was doing 10.8 [seconds] on a quarter mile track, then it progressed to 9.7, then 8.59s and 8.31s, Southall said. ....

The 35th Anniversary Whanganui Street Drags, put on by the Whanganui Street Rodders, will be hitting Taupo Quay this Saturday.
Organiser Raj Patel said the annual event began life on Heads Road, but as the
speed of the vehicles increased, the decision was made to move to Taupo Quay in the early 2000s.
There was a little bit of a kink at the end of the track there (Heads Road), and as time progressed, cars were going faster and faster and faster, Patel said. ....
