It is very warm in the east bay. 70 in san mateo. And san jose right now at 84 degrees. We still have that heat advisory in effect, this lasting through 11 00 tonight. Reporter this was Westgate Drive near the Silverado Country Club late this afternoon. At least a dozen homes burned to the ground. The ruins are still smoldering in many cases. Nothing left but chimneys and other masonry. Around the corner im kristen drive, more of the same. Napa county officials cannot begin to tally the toll of the unfolding tragedy. I just came back from Silverado Country Club in the highlands community. I saw there were many affected structures. We arent at a moment where we can start the counting. We need to make sure we get the people out and to safety. Then we could count the people and then the structures. In many cases they were struck by trees blown down by power lines that in turn sparked more fires. Silverado trail resident, this residence home was spared but his neighbors were so fortunate. Death toll to rise again. We are going to have the report in just a moment, he has been covering the fire all evening force. We want to give you a closer look at the nonfire. Earlier he was showing us how the fire was moving towards a ridge that was not far. He said about a football field size length from the homes there. There is 4000 people that live in this area, it is a retirement community. Is a 55 and older group living there. You sold the flames earlier this evening and they were just ominous as they crawled down the help the hell. In the same area of concern Sugarloaf Park and the winery is also in the fire area. The tub fire is also one of the most destructive. It is the fire that went across highway 101 in santa rosa. It is near shiloh regional park. It has burned more than 20,000 acres. 21 commercial buildings were burned. Everything inside the red line you see on your screen is under an evacuation order. I do want to go to some of the video because i was up on that hill earlier this evening and if it werent for the cell signal, wed be going live up there right now. You can see those flames and just how close they were to some of the homes earlier this afternoon, at one point between 30 to 50 feet from those homes on woodley place, but they have since dissipated at this point and even gone in the other direction a bit and the good news this evening is the fact the wind is not nearly as strong as it was earlier this afternoon in this area. Most of the people have been evacuated from here. I mean it was a mandatory evacuation. I did talk with a couple people who chose not to leave despite that mandatory evacuation. They advised us get out now and i said we will be ready to go if we think were in jeopardy and they were insistent and we said, you know, bear with us. We want to stay as long as we can.
