Apple had an impressive senior season for Western Alamance, posting 48 RBI, 15 home runs, and a batting average of .595. On the mound, Apple was 23-4 with an ERA of 1.19. She allowed 74 hits and 36 runs, while striking out 352 batters. Western Alamance had an overall record 23-5, and lost to East Lincoln in a three-game series in the state championship. Next season, Apple will play softball for East Carolina.
East Lincoln had momentum at the end of Game 2 in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A softball state championship, and the Mustangs carried it over into a decisive Game 3.
Jillian Brunton turned on the first pitch she saw in the bottom of the eighth inning and sent it over the center field fence for a two-run homer that gave the Western Alamance Warriors a 6-4 walk-off win in Game one of the 3A Championship Series against East Lincoln.
