CAMPAIGNERS against plans to locate a £200 million waste incinerator at Westbury are urging Wiltshire Council to reject the company s application to switch the technology from advanced thermal treatment to moving grate combustion. Marie Hillcoat, Nadia Evans and Dan Gmaj, of the Westbury Gasification Action Group/No Westbury Incinerator, are among the thousands of people who oppose the plans to build the incinerator in Westbury. They said: Two of the councillors who will decide the scheme live in Westbury, one in Upton Scudamore and the others across the county. Sixteen town and parish councils in their wards voted against the incinerator application. It is time the councillors do the same when they vote at the strategic planning committee. They must vote as a representative of the thousands who have objected. ....
The Northacre Renewable Energy Ltd site in Westbury THE Wiltshire company behind a scheme to locate a £200 million waste-to-energy incinerator at Westbury has defended its proposals to change its technology. Northacre Renewable Energy Ltd has submitted plans to Wiltshire Council to switch the technology for the proposed facility from advanced thermal treatment gasification to moving grate combustion. The joint venture firm, which is owned by The Hills Group in Swindon and Bioenergy Infrastructure Group, has also applied to the Environment Agency for an operating permit. The public consultation for the permit ended on February 22 and the company is now awaiting both decisions. ....
