Foard wins 2A West, returns to state title game with sweep of West Wilkes

Fred T. Foard s volleyball team is just one game away from repeating as 2A state champs.
The No. 8-seeded Tigers went on the road to face No. 3 West Wilkes on Tuesday and made quick work of the Blackhawks with a three-set sweep by set scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-19.
Senior outside hitter Michelle Thao led the way for Foard (18-0) with 13 kills and 14 digs.
Thao was a big part of Foard s 2019 state championship run, earning MVP honors in the title game against Ayden-Grifton last season with 12 digs and eight kills.
The matchups are set for the N.C. High School Athletic Association volleyball regional championships after third round matches were completed on Saturday.
